On this week’s podcast, I meet Brittany Sabol, the training director at Environmental Volunteers. EV is an organization that turns everyday folks into extraordinary informal educators who go into classrooms to provide science enrichments.
Working with volunteers is a huge part of many informal education sites – they extend the reach of our often budget-strapped institutions to an incredible degree! Training is the key to Brittany’s work, and to many informal education organizations, volunteers are the lifeblood.
On the blog this week, I post about dialogic discourse – how to encourage your volunteers to talk with their learners, rather than reciting facts.
Finally, on my ever-growing jargon list, I search for a good definition for a related term we all hear a lot but don’t interrogate enough: Inquiry-Based Learning.
You can listen to the podcast right from this page, or use your favorite podcast app on your phone or other device. As always, I’d love to hear any feedback you’ve got!
